Off-Chain Assets are in general consumable items in the game that hold less economic value and is thus more suitable to be hosted purely on the server. Players can still have an enjoyable gaming experience with only off-chain assets. They include:
The in-game currency that runs only on the Server Layer. Can be earned easier than RUBY, the other in-game currency that is a ERC20 token. GOLD is generally used to purchase other Off-Chain Assets.
Shards are consumed to upgrade, or, "Limit Break", Weapons and Armors in the game.
Shards may become an On-Chain Asset in the future and serve as the second token in CryptoKnights.
Artifacts are blind boxes that can be opened to receive items.
Banners are cosmetic items that decorate your name when a fight starts.
Wallpapers can be used as the background scenery of the player's home page.
Chat Windows are used to change the shape and color of the chat box when a player speaks.
Items that haven't been minted and withdrawn onto the player's wallet as ERC tokens.
PvP Versus matches players with each other. It is the main way for Knights to level up and earn items. Knights are matched based on their level, the power of their items, and the PvP Score of the player.
The winning Knight earns EXP and can level up; the losing Knight loses EXP! If a Knight loses too much EXP, they cannot play PvP Versus until they recover their EXP to a certain degree.
If a player wins with a CryptoKnight (on-chain Knight), they earn additional RUBY rewards. This is one of the "Play & Earn" aspect of the game.
Story Mode is the PvE Campaign. The Knight embarks on an epic journey, defeat enemies, complete challenges, level up, and earn rewards.
Knights that lose too much EXP cannot participate in Story Mode until they recover.
Friends can set a Custom Match to fight each other.
Custom Match allows observers to watch the match real-time!
A use case of this game mode is to set up matches for Esports Tournaments.
Members of a Clan team up to fight a Boss. The Boss has a lot of Health.
The Clan with the most scores will be on the Leaderboard and win prizes.
Tournaments are where Clans compete with each other.
A Player faces an opponent that might be from any clan participating in this tournament.
Clans and Players with the most scores will be on the Leaderboard and win prizes.
CryptoKnights has a unique leveling system. Levels and Experience (EXP) are viewed as scarce assets!
The main way for a Knight to gain EXP to level up is through PvP Versus.
Winner gains EXP. Loser loses EXP.
A player can
Cannot be minted or withdrawn to the player’s wallet.
Behave similar to traditional game items.
Hosts On-Chain Assets:
Can be moved (or, “bridged”) between the Server Layer and the Blockchain Layer.
Only On-Chain Assets exist on the Blockchain Layer as ERC tokens.
Player has full control over these assets with their crypto wallet.
When a player spends RUBY in the game:
5% of them are burned
35% goes to the game operator
60% are added into the RUBY Staking Pool as rewards
Player should find it worthwhile to do so because higher Level Knights earn more RUBY, are stronger, and have more access to in-game features.
EXP slowly regenerates over time. At launch, 1 EXP takes 1 minute to regenerate, therefore a Knight regenerates 1,440 EXP per day.
Anyone can download the game and start playing. CryptoKnights will feel like a traditional free mobile game to a traditional gamer. However, as the player progresses through the game, it should be apparent that opting into the blockchain ecosystem will bring a much enhanced experience for them.
CryptoKnights allows in-game assets to be transferred between the game and blockchains. Those assets will be in the form of, in common understanding, cryptocurrencies (RUBY) and NFTs (Knights, Skins and more).
We aim to be a multichain game, meaning that the assets can exist on multiple blockchains, so as to interact with different cryptoassets on those blockchains.
One can view CryptoKnights as a Play to Earn game (P2E), similar to other well-known blockchain games like Axie Infinity. However, with a combat system based on playing Cards, we like to see CryptoKnights as more of a Trading Card Game like Gods Unchained, where value is created via trading Cards and items.
Another core concept of CryptoKnights is that the in-game assets are upgradable. Knights can level up, Cards can be combined, items can be enhanced. The NFTs a player holds go up in value over time. The cryptocurrency income is only a miniscule part of the game economy.
Therefore a better description of CryptoKnights should be Play to Build! Or, Play to Buidl.
Since the main introduction of value is not from earning in-game currencies but from of building assets, wealth can be created by the players in ways even the game developers could not have foreseen, making the game economy more sustainable and not relying on new players keep joining the ecosystem.
CryptoKnights is heavily inspired by DeFi (Decentralized Finance), assets are designed to be compatible with DeFi instruments. We introduce new methods for NFT rental, scholarship, options, royalty split, AMMs (Automated Market Makers), and more.

To win a round, the opponent's HP has to go to zero.
To win a match, the Knight has to beat the opponent in a best of 3.
Use the arrow keys on the bottom left of the screen to approach or retreat from the opponent.
Play from the 4 Cards in hand which are shown on the bottom right.
The Actions are performed real-time. This is not a turn-based card game.
Once a Card is played, draw a new Card (the grey Card marked "NEXT").
There are 8 cards in total in a player's Card deck.
Cards are categorized by their background color:
Red: Attack
Blue: Defend
Green: Heal
Yellow: Special
The numbers shown on the top of the Cards are the Stamina it consumes.
Stamina is used to play Cards. It is shown as a bar below your hand of Cards.
Stamina regenerates automatically. The maximum Stamina is 10. The state of the Knight will affect it's regeneration speed.
For example, when a Knight is attacking its opponent, its Stamina regenerates slower; when the Knight is standing still, its Stamina regenerates faster.
The Health Bars are located at the top of the screen under the players' names.
A small Endurance Bar is shown below a Health Bar. It is by default 2 Endurance.
Endurances are depleted from a Knight when it is attacked while performing an attack card.
When a Knight's Endurance is 0, its attack will be cancelled by the opponent's attack.
The Endurance Bar takes time to automatically recharge. Then the Knight can resume attacking the opponent while being attacked.
The Timer is located between the two Health Bars.
The Timer starts at 60 seconds. When it reaches 0, the fight enters Overtime Phase, both Knights start losing health each second.
Overtime Phase lasts for 20 seconds. When it reaches 0, the Knight with more health wins.
On-Chain Assets can be withdrawn from the game to the player's crypto wallet. The player would do so in order to:
List the items on the marketplace for sale
Exchange items with friends
Use the assets as DeFi instruments
Knights are the core asset in the whole game.
A player can own multiple Knights and choose which to fight with.
With NFT Knights (Minted Knights, On-Chain Knights), a player can earn RUBY when they win a game.
The items that increase a Knight's defense.
There are 5 types of Armors:
Helmet
Armor (breastplate)
Gauntlets
Waist
Boots
The items that increase a Knight's attack.
There are 3 types of Weapons:
Long Sword
Sword & Shield
Great Weapon
Cards are the moves a Knight can perform during a battle.
There are 5 types of Cards, categorized by their background color:
Red: Attack
Blue: Defend
Green: Heal
Yellow: Special
Purple: Special
Skins are used to change the appearance of a Knight and don't affect gameplay.
There are skins for each type of Weapons and Armors, therefore:
Full Armor (full set of skin)
Helmet
Armor (breastplate)
Gauntlets
Waist
Boots
Long Sword
Sword & Shield
Great Weapon
3rd party artists will be able to create their own NFT skins and sell on our marketplace in future expansions.
Emotes are the dances a Knight can perform when they win a match.
They are used to humiliate the other player, which is what video games are all about.
3rd party artists will be able to create their own NFT emotes and sell on our marketplace in future expansions.
A Battle Replay is the recording of a fight. Players can share their Battle Replay with each other.
We expect to see legendary Battle Replays becoming highly valuable over time.
RUBY is the main currency in the game. See $RUBY page.
SHARD is a possible future token derived from Shards in the game used for upgrading Weapons & Armor. SHARD may have additional usage then.
CRYSTAL is a possible future token which will serve as the Governance Token of CryptoKnights.
Purple: Special

Stakers in the RUBY Staking Pool will receive rewards from our RUBY Staking Reward allocation.
We plan to use the SushiSwap xSUSHI staking model:
You stake RUBY to receive xRUBY.
You earn more RUBY for holding xRUBY over time.
You can stake xRUBY to earn other tokens in our ecosystem such as SHARD and CRYSTAL.
Players use Knights to play the game. All players will be given a free, basic Knight when they create an account, but those Knights are not NFTs yet.
Knights which are NFTs, either won in a Knight Auction, bought from the marketplace, rented from other holders, or newly minted, can earn RUBY rewards when they win a Ranked Game. The higher Level a Knight, the more RUBY they earn.
A player can own multiple Knights, all with different Levels and using different items. Tournaments will have multiple classes so that all Knights can fight with someone their own size.
Coming Soon!!
Starting from year 6 there will be a fixed amount of 20,000,000 RUBY added into the supply each year for “Player Rewards”.
But with the burning mechanism, RUBY will not necessarily be an inflationary currency.
The first batch of Knights will be auctioned using the Multi-NFT Auctioning system. The floor price of those Knights will be determined based on free market price action. We call them Genesis Knights, and the auction campaign Initial Knight Offering (IKO).
We plan to offer 10,000 Knights in the Initial Knight Offering.
Shards (SHARD) is the currency in CryptoKnights which players can consume to enhance their equipment.
It is not an On-Chain token (ERC-20) yet, but we plan to make it one.
We plan to offer more utility for Shards.
CryptoKnights runs on:
iOS
Android
Mac (soon)
Name: RUBY
Symbol: RUBY
Supply: 500,000,000 (Plus 20,000,000 annual new mints)
RUBY is meant to be consumed in the CryptoKnights game, similar to how most traditional free mobile games will incentivize players to buy and consume gems to restore energy or unlock features. Our intent is to make RUBY less of a speculative asset and more of a utility token.
We plan to allow players to stake RUBY to earn more SHARD.
We plan to offer SHARD/RUBY trading pairs with more DeFi utility such as Liquidity Mining and more.

Castles can level up. High tier Castles can even issue custom tokens. ERC20 and/or ERC721. The highest tier "Citadel" has an amount cap of 7; the 2nd highest tier "Castle" has an amount cap of 21.
Castles can tax its Knights. A part of that Knight's earnings go to the Castle.
Knights from a Castle can have exclusive skins. Castle art design is customized.
The CASTLE Smart Contract is upgradable. They will have more features as the game developments.
In the Initial Knight Offering, high level Genesis Knights equipped with strong items are available for sale. We anticipate these Knights to be auctioned out with a substantial price, while lower level Knights with a more modest price.
We decide to price Knights in USD stablecoins because:
The game sees Knights as the consumers of RUBY. It would be degrading to price Knights themselves in RUBY.
We don't want Knight prices to be a subject to the extreme volatility of game tokens.
The lowest winning bid from the IKO will set the initial Floor Price of Genesis Knights. This will affect:
The SeaLevel of the Genesis Royalty Pool
The basis price for minting new Knights
Buyers will place bids on those NFTs. The higher the bid, the better the NFT they will receive when auction ends.
If the buyer's bid gets pushed out by other bids, they will be refunded.
Parallel to the NFT Auction, there will also be a Royalty Pool Auction. Anyone can participate in the Royalty Pool Auction.
The Royalty Pool collects royalties that come from sales on the secondary market and rent from the rental market.

When a Knight is below its All-Time-High Level, the player can consume RUBY to restore the Knight's Level back. The player will do so because a higher Level Knight can gain access to more features in the game and earn more RUBY when they win a ranked game.
RUBY can be consumed to purchase in-game items, similar to how most mobile games provide in-game purchases.
RUBY can be consumed to mint in-game items in a player's account into NFTs, which can be withdrawn into the player's wallet on the blockchain.
Holders can stake RUBY into a single staking pool on the blockchain.
When RUBY are consumed in the game, 60% of that amount will be distributed to RUBY stakers.
There will be NFT Auctions that will be priced in RUBY. Therefore a player must possess RUBY in order to participate in those Auctions.
For Auctions priced in RUBY, the corresponding Royalty Pool will be priced in RUBY as well. Therefore a player must possess RUBY in order to participate in those Auctions.
Crystals (CRYSTAL) is the codename for our upcoming governance token.
We plan to allow players to earn Crystals in the CryptoKnights game.
We plan to allow players to stake RUBY to earn more CRYSTAL.
We plan to offer CRYSTAL/RUBY trading pairs with more DeFi utility such as Liquidity Mining and more.
CryptoKnights targets monet.market as its main secondary marketplace, although CryptoKnights' NFTs are ERC721 compatible and can be listed on any NFT marketplace.
Sellers can list their NFTs for sale similar to other marketplaces such as OpenSea or LooksRare.
monet.market offers Fixed Price Sales, obviously.
monet.market offers English Auctions where buyers bid for an individual NFT and the highest bid wins.
monet.market offers Dutch Auctions where the sell price drops with time until someone buys it.
Royalty Pools are DAOs that automatically buy an NFT when it is in their target price range. It can thus be seen as an Automated Market Maker (AMM) for NFTs.
monet.market provides a Rental Market for NFTs. The two parties in the rental agreement can set the terms of the rental deal. That includes fixed price rent and revenue split.
Since monet.market Rental Market offers revenue split for NFTs, it can be used by guilds as a tool to offer On-Chain Scholarship. This is a trustless and decentralized new business model.
The team behind CryptoKnights is building an eSports platform that integrates multi-way, super-low-latency, blockchain-aware live streaming system.
CryptoKnights will be the first game utilizing this streaming platform. Stay tuned.

The Genesis Royalty Pool is the Royalty Pool for Genesis Knights. It:
Collects Royalties from secondary sales and rental fees
Buys Genesis Knights from the marketplace if its sell price is below the SeaLevel
Lists the Genesis Knights it holds on monet.market for sale or for rent
The Genesis Royalty Pool is a DAO, and its governance token is called the Genesis Knight RP token. They are ERC20 tokens and can be traded and put into DeFi instruments.
CryptoKnights is a multichain game, meaning that the in-game assets can be imported from and withdrawn to multiple blockchains.
For our RUBY token to exist on multiple chains, we incorporated a special type of ERC20 contract that can be aware of its balance on other chains, so that the total amount of RUBY on all chains it has been deployed on remains constant.
The NFTs in CryptoKnights will first be auctioned on a single blockchain, then can be imported into the game and withdrawn onto other chains.
Therefore the game serves as a bridge for all those tokens.

A Watch costs 10x the price of minting a Knight NFT to mint.
The price of minting a new Knight is (The Total Amount of Knights / 100), priced in USD stablecoins.
We will premint 1,000 "Genesis Knights" at launch, therefore a new Knight will cost 10 USD to mint at start, putting a Watch at 100 USD to mint at start.
Player can link account to crypto wallet to upgrade to Tier 3.
All advanced NFT features will require this account tier.
Each Castle can own up to 4% of the total Knight supply.
There can only ever be 7 Citadels and 21 Castles.
When a Castle reaches the required Knight amount, the owner can pay a Construction Fee to upgrade it.
Castle owners receive a chunk of the Royalties when the Knights that belongs to that Castle gets traded on the open market.
Castle owners can mint Knights from the Castle with a discount.
Castles can impose a tax on its Knights. They can set the tax rate for part of those Knights' earnings to go to the Castle.
Castle owners can choose to allow other people to mint Knights from that Castle. The owner receives a chunk of the minting fee.
Each Castle tier will have special features.
Castles can merge.
A Citadel can downgrade if a Castle surpasses it in Knight amount. In this case, the Castle pays Upgrade Fee to the Citadel that gets downgraded.
We can gift Castles to players.
We take Zeref Hooga for example. Zeref won an Alpha Castle in a tournament during beta. He will receive the actual Castle as the game officially launches.
Zeref Hooga's Castle starts as a Castle, but has to start from 0 Knights. It gets 500 free mints, but still has to follow the 4% rule.
For guild partners, we offer them Castle presales. They get the same deal as the one Zeref gets as mentioned above.
Assuming the Castle has 500 free mints.
Since Castles can only own 4% of the total Knight supply, there has to be 12,500 Knights in circulation for any Castle to reach 500 Knights.
Assuming a Castle owner mints whenever she could, the cost of minting a Knight would start from 10 USD and end at 125 USD when the 500th Knight is minted from this Castle.
Assuming RUBY price stays stable at 0.1 USD (which it should not. RUBY price should go up if Knights get minted.)
The Castle owner would have spend approximately 33,750 USD to mint 500 Knights, 100 USD to mint a Watch, 9,200 USD to upgrade her Watch all the way up to a Castle. That makes the cost to build a Castle up from scratch 43,050 USD.
Note: the estimation above is assuming the Castle owner gets in everything first. Any other Castle would cost a lot more to build.

We here define the Monetary Policy of CrytpoKnights as how the Game Operator influences the in-game currency on blockchains, presumably in DeFi instruments. How the Operator manages the currency in the server is referred to as the Fiscal Policy.
Uniswap v3 offers to Liquidity Providers: they can choose to concentrate their capital to a certain price interval. This allows game operators to influence their token supply and price action in a public manner. The Monetary Policy will incentivize token trades to occur in a certain range while disincentivizing another. Other liquidity providers will react to the incentives accordingly, overall stabilizing the token price market.
CryptoKnights will allocate a sizable amount of its RUBY reserve to a series of Uniswap v3 positions, ranging from 0.1 USD per RUBY to infinity. From the players' perspective, this can be interpretated as the Game Operator selling RUBY to them starting at 0.1 USD. As price goes up, the Game Operator sells more RUBY; when price goes down, the Game Operator buys back RUBY instead.
We do not intend to withdraw these Uniswap v3 positions as it will destabilize the RUBY price. Only when we are migrating to another Automated Market Maker (AMM) will we adjust them.
We may put extra liquidity into positions of other price intervals so as to incentivize RUBY price to remain in a certain range.
For example, if RUBY price hits 10 USD and we find that price to be overvalued, we may put more RUBY into a position ranging from 10 USD per RUBY to higher. That way it would be harder for buyers to push RUBY price up furthermore.
On the other hand, if RUBY price then drops below 2 USD and we find that price to be undervalued, we may put more USD into a position ranging from 2 USD per RUBY to lower. That way we will be buying back more RUBY in that price range, similar to how a public company buys back treasury stocks.
The "USD" mentioned above refer to USD stablecoins. We choose the preferrable stablecoin on whichever blockchains we support. Our Core Liquidity will be shared between those blockchains.
For example, we could provide a Uniswap v3 RUBY/USDC position on Ethereum while having a Uniswap v3 RUBY/XDAI position on Gnosis Chain, both using the same price interval.
Since RUBY can be natively bridged between multiple chains, arbitrageurs will keep RUBY price consistent between different markets.
Any RUBY holder can provide liquidity in AMMs, adding more liquidity to the pools. CryptoKnights allocates a part of its RUBY reserve as Liquidity Staking Rewards (LP Farming) to Uniswap v2 LP stakers.
Royalty Pools are a type of DAO provided by to split royalties and act as AMMs for NFTs on the secondary market. We will launch new NFT Auctions that are denominated in RUBY, which will result in Royalty Pools taking in RUBY from investors and locking them up. This is another tool for CryptoKnights to reduce the RUBY supply in the token economy.
We call this Monet-ary Policy. 😜

Since more and more players will join the game, the 10,000 Genesis Knights will not be enough to meet the demand. Therefore the players can mint new Knights as NFTs.
To mint a new Knight, the player must consume a Off-Chain Knight in their game account and pay the minting fees.
The fee for minting a new Knight will be higher than the lowest winning price from the Initial Knight Offering. We currently target it to be 30% percent higher. Therefore if the lowest winning price in the IKO is $50 USD, the minting fee for a new Knight will be $65 USD.
By this way, all participants in the IKO have a reasonable advantage of getting in early.
Since Knights do not have a fixed amount, the cost of minting a new Knight is designed to go up with time in order to prevent the new Knights from diluting the value of older Knights.
Every time 100 new Knights are minted, the minting price goes up by $1 USD.
By this way, if IKO Floor Price is $50 USD, the 100,000th Knight would cost $965 USD to mint.
We believe with this minting mechanism, early adopters are incentivized while new players can still get their own Knight without having to pay an absurd amount of money upfront.
